My Pandemic Home Project: The Living Room

jdecker Uncategorized

Since the pandemic started, we’ve all been spending more time at home. For me, that time has meant tackling household projects I never had time for. I’ve done everything from installing hooks in the bathroom, replacing and adding light fixtures, and painting. But in the five years I’ve lived in my home, I’ve never quite figured out how to design the living room. I consider myself an acceptable designer, but the living room has always been my pain point.

Staying safe at home meant that every day I’d sit and have my coffee in my living room and puzzle over how to make it better. And after months of this, I realized I needed to turn to professional help. Enter Modsy, the online interior design company I’d seen advertised on Instagram (I’m a sucker for Instagram ads). I selected their starter package (only $150), uploaded my room photos, and within a few days had two 3D designs that exceeded my expectations.

My Modsy designer reimagined my space and included a seating area I hadn’t thought of and even used products within my budget. Yes, Modsy makes most of their money on commission from selling recommended products, and their own line of furniture, but I could take this design and the color choices and shop anywhere.

Over the next few months, I plan on enacting this vision and entering 2021 with a beautiful living room that I enjoy spending time in. Take a look at the designs they made for me, the 3D renderings are so realistic I feel like I’m looking at a photo of my actual room.
