The 2020 – 2021 school year looks different than any other school year, and parents and students need to stay extra organized to keep on top of the virtual schooling workload. Here are some tips to help you through this school year.
Create a Workspace: Find a quiet area for your student to concentrate on school. The space should be comfortable, well-lit, and have everything your student needs at their fingertips. Use magazine holders to organize paper and notebooks.
Keep a Routine: Even though your student can log on in PJs without brushing their teeth, start the day as you normally would. Get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, and then log on.
Use a Digital Calendar: Since your student will be in front of a screen all day, have them use a digital calendar to keep track of assignments. Use notifications and reminders sparingly so as not to overwhelm your student.
Organize Digital Files: Have a different computer folder for each class and subfolders per assignment. Backup the computer at least weekly.
Each teacher will have a different way that they teach their virtual class but having an organized framework at home, your student will be prepared and in control of their own space and their workload.
